We were able to enjoy fruit and vegetables from the garden all summer long. Starting with the peas, then soon after green beans, which bore fruit for almost 3 months this year, lettuce from April to July. Cherries, blackberries, zucchini, aubergines (for the first time in all these years we have had a very good harvest), tomatoes, pumpkin and peppers. Apples and pears in large quantities. Even some carrots grew bigger than usual this time.
We picked most of the grapes when they were still green and made verjus from them. We have been using this instead of vinegar for a long time because it is milder and tastier.
What we didn’t eat straight away we made into sauces, jam or juice, froze or boiled down. Like every year, the pantry and freezer are full.
Many apples are stored in the cellar.
The second sowing of green beans is now bearing fruit very well, and pumpkin, zucchini, chard, peppers and tomatoes are also still producing plenty of fruit.
