A trip to Germany was planned for mid-May.
This is exactly the right time to experience the rhododendron bloom!
But where? Which garden has the most rhododendrons?
A lengthy search on the Internet begins. We read descriptions that praised the most beautiful and largest gardens and parks in the highest tones… and just as many recessions that didn’t exactly sound enthusiastic.
And then we found…

South Cemetery Leipzig, a 76-hectare area that was laid out like a park in 1886, with many trees and 9000 rhododendrons. There are many great specimens, all the graves are decorated with flowers and bushes. Many great funerary monuments, some by well-known Art Nouveau sculptors, offer a contemplative picture of tranquillity.
Here reigns the peaceful tranquility of a forest.
